Where to park on campus

Cornell University, though on 2,300 acres, has limited parking. Please visit the Cornell Parking web site to learn more about where and how to park on campus. Area hotels often run convenient shuttles to campus. Parking passes, information, and maps are available at the Information and Parking Booths that mark each entrance to the University.

Students who bring their car to Cornell are required to register their vehicle with the university. Registration is free, but does not bestow parking privileges. Most daytime parking on campus requires a permit, and parking regulations are strictly enforced. A variety of permits are available for purchase at Commuting and Parking Services, including permits for carpoolers. Visitors also can purchase daily permits from the information booths at campus entrances.

Driving around town and Cornell

Ithaca is in New York State, so if you have questions about state laws, please visit the DMV site. On campus there are signs posted with regard to parking and traffic laws. Pedestrians have the right of way, no matter what. Cornell Police will strictly enforce traffic regulations. Keep your eyes open as the students are sometimes not aware of cars. In the city of Ithaca and in Collegetown, please keep in mind which day it is when you are parking; parking rules change based on the day of the week.
