If you are reading this, you are now a part of history! Well, my history anyway. This is the first issue of my "Market Update & Placement News" column, which will be appearing regularly in our eNewsletter. I will be using this platform to keep you informed of our placement efforts, to remind you of services available to you as a graduate of Cornell Law School, to share stories, and, on occasion, to ask for your assistance. If you have suggestions for future columns, or if we just haven't spoken in a while and you would just like to catch up, please don't hesitate to give me a call at 607-255-9982. You can also find me on Linkedin.

A Few Words About Symplicity

Recent graduates will recognize the name-Symplicity is the software package through which we run recruiting events, track student and alumni employment data, keep resumes on file, and more. For alumni, there are three particular ways in which Symplicity may be of use to you (and yes, it is free):

  • If you are SEEKING a job, Symplicity contains all of our alumni job listings, and you can access them 24/7. To register, simply visit the Law School's Symplicity page.
  • If you are HIRING, we will post your job in Symplicity and also assist you in reaching out to other alumni with the qualifications you seek. Just call or e-mail me anytime I can assist with a hiring need: 607-255-9982 or jrd29@cornell.edu.
  • If you are interested in serving as a MENTOR to other alumni as well as to students, or if you are seeking a MENTOR yourself, register in Symplicity and then click on "Manage Professional Network Profile."

ANNOUNCING REGIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEES

In an effort to maintain close relationships with geographic markets to which we regularly send graduates (but not always in large numbers), we have created regional alumni advisory committees in the Pacific Northwest, Northern and Southern California, Texas, Chicago, Florida, Washington, D.C., Boston, and Upstate New York. If you are practicing in any of these locations and would like to get involved, please give me a call.

CORNELL - A "GO-TO" LAW SCHOOL FOR THE LARGEST FIRMS

The National Law Journal recently ranked Cornell Law School sixth in the nation for sending its 2014 graduates into associate jobs at the nation's 250 largest law firms. Congratulations to our 2014 grads!

Until next time : Love to thee, our fair Cornell!
