Shadow Program

The Alumni Shadow Program

First-year students meet with an alumnus/a in January of the first year during winter break. The student will visit the graduate’s workplace, discuss his/her career path and current practice, and shadow the alumnus/a during a typical workday.

To the extent possible, each student will be matched with an alumnus/a in the geographic and practice area of the student’s choosing.

The Shadow Program’s benefits are many:

• Students explore career options, freed of the constraints of academic credit or paid employment.
• Students practice their interpersonal skills and become acquainted with the legal workplace before formal interviews with other employers later in the semester.
• Alumni provide advice and potential networking opportunities.

Application materials are emailed to 1L students in November of each year.
