Fall Recruiting

What is Fall Recruiting?

Fall recruiting is the period during which many employers recruit Cornell Law students through regional job fairs and on-campus interviews. Fall recruiting includes the following:

  • On and off campus visits from hundreds of employers, primarily large firms in major markets (collectively known as “visiting employers”).
  • Primary focus is on 2L students for summer positions, which can lead to permanent post-graduate offers
  • 20 - 30 minute “screening” or “initial” interviews.
  • Regional job fairs and on-campus interviews (“OCI”) from early August through late September.
  • August Job Fair in NYC, the largest interviewing event of the year, which includes employers from around the country.
  • Students pay for travel and housing at regional job fairs.

What is a call-back interview?

After the initial interview, the employer will invite some students back to their offices for further interviews. This typically includes the following:

  • A series of individual interviews with 4-6 attorneys.
  • Lunch or dinner.
  • Employer typically pays travel and accommodation costs.
