Judge Feldman has been a United States Magistrate Judge in theWestern District of New York since 1995. After graduating fromCornell University (1978) and Syracuse College of Law (1981), JudgeFeldman served as law clerk to United States District Court JudgeMichael A. Telesca, and then as an Assistant United States Attorneyfor the Western District of New York. From 1987 to 1992 JudgeFeldman was a member of the law firm of Geraci and Feldman inRochester, New York. In 1992 the Second Circuit Court of Appealsappointed Judge Feldman as the first Federal Public Defender for theWestern District of New York, a position he held until 1995 when hewas appointed to the federal bench. In 2000 Judge Feldman wasappointed by Chief Judge William H. Rehnquist to the FederalJudicial Center Magistrate Judge Education Committee and then asChair of the Committee in 2005. In 2009 Chief Judge John Robertsappointed Judge Feldman as the Magistrate Judge member of theJudicial Conference Committee on Defender Services. JudgeFeldman has been actively involved in judicial education for manyyears and for over a decade has served as the primary instructor offederal criminal practice and procedure for new magistrate judgetraining at the Federal Judicial Center.
