President Skorton has been outspoken on matters of immigration reform and has invited participation in higher education on the national level through a "National Day of Immigration Reform" on Friday, April 19, 2013. At the Cornell event, President Skorton will speak on the economic and educational issues related to STEM graduate degree holders, and he will be joined by Hiroshi Motomura, the Susan Westerberg Prager Professor of Law at UCLA, who will discuss how the US should deal with the estimated 11 million undocumented non-citizens in the U.S. Following these presentation, President Skorton and Professor Motomura will be joined by Cornell Professor Michael Jones-Correa and Professor Stephen Yale-Loehr for a panel discussion on the topic of immigration reform. The event is open to the public and will be live-streamed.
