Avon Global Center develops a model code addressing acid violence

Several countries, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, and India, are considering drafting new laws or amending existing laws in order to more effectively address the problem of acid violence. The Avon Global Center and the Cornell Law School International Human Rights Clinic are developing a model code on acid violence that seeks to contribute to these and similar legislative reform efforts. Drawing upon the findings of the Center’s comparative study, the annotated code will include provisions designed to prevent acid violence, prosecute and punish its perpetrators, and afford protection and assistance to its victims.
