Diogo Magalhaes

Diogo Magalhaes

Diogo Magalhaes joined the J.S.D. Program at Cornell University in 2014, and has recently been hired as a consultant for the Center for Transformative Action's Ethical Shareholder Initiative. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, and holds an LL.M. degree in “Law in a European and Global Context” from Catolica Global School of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal. After his LL.M. Degree, Diogo attended a semester at Duke University, pursuing research in Intellectual Property and Legal Theory.

From 2013 to 2014 he was invited to teach at the Lisbon School of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal, lecturing on “Introduction to Legal Culture”. In the spring of 2015 he was a visiting professor at IIT’s Chicago-Kent College of Law, lecturing a Course on “European Union Law” and a co-teaching a seminar on “Law, Markets and Globalization” (together with Professor Sungjoon Cho).

While at Catolica Global School of Law, Diogo was selected to lead and participate in a student research group, working with Allen & Overy’s Global Law Intelligence Unit, tasked with preparing a national report on Portugal’s Legal Risk Rating. This work now features in the “International legal risk for banks and corporates” report by Allen & Overy.
