James HuAdjunct Professor of Law
James Hu is a corporate partner in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP and has broad transactional experience. He represents both public and private acquirers and target companies in domestic and cross-border M&A transactions and contested situations, with a focus on public company mergers, acquisitions or sales of private companies, divisional carve-outs, and joint ventures or strategic alliances. Before joining Kirkland & Ellis, Mr. Hu spent over two years in the corporate department of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP’s New York office, practicing a range of corporate matters. A native mandarin speaker, Mr. Hu obtained his first law degree from Nanjing University in 2007, after which he started his legal career at Paul Hastings LLP in Shanghai. From 2009 to 2012, Mr. Hu studied at Cornell Law School, where he was an article editor of the Cornell Law Review and graduated 5th in his class.
