Dorf Reigns Supreme in Third Annual Faculty Pie Eating Contest

Ithaca, NEW YORK, November 30, 2012

Four esteemed Law School professors faced off for a good cause and an entertaining study break for students at the third annual Faculty Pie Eating Contest, held the week following Thanksgiving. In a test of gastric will, Michael Dorf, Brad Wendel, Charles Whitehead, and Dean Stewart Schwab were given three minutes, plus bonus seconds purchased by donors, to eat one cherry pie a piece. The contestant consuming the greatest amount of pie in the time allotted would be awarded the distinguished honor of Faculty Pie Eating Champion.

With 968 grams of pie eaten, Professor Dorf held onto his title as the reigning champion. Professor Wendel, the inaugural title holder, came in second. Commenting on his loss, Wendel stated, "I am beaten, but not broken."

According to lead organizer, Michael Barnett '13, students raised a record $870 to donate to Love Knows No Bounds, an Ithaca-based charity working to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
