Law and Economics Program

Welcome to the Law and Economics Program at Cornell Law School. Funded by a grant from the John M. Olin Foundation, the purpose of this program is to promote faculty research bearing on the economic analysis of law and to contribute to the further development of the field more broadly (both with respect to theoretical and empirical analysis).

Presently, the program is focused on sponsoring conferences, workshops, and seminars applying economic analysis to various substantive areas of law, including health law and intellectual property law. The program also works alongside the Law and Economics Student Association to promote student understanding of the economic analysis of law and to expose students to modern research and thinking in this field. This latter purpose is likewise furthered by the Law School’s associated course offerings bearing on economics and the law.
