Julia Mizutani, Law Research, Instruction, and Liaison Librarian; Adjunct Professor of Law, is this year`s winner of the 2024-2025 Anne Lukingbeal Award. The award is presented annually by the Women`s Law Coalition (WLC), and is given to a member of the faculty or staff who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the advancement of women in the legal profession. This year marks the 27th year of this annual tradition!
WLC is an organization at Cornell Law School dedicated to advancing women in the legal profession and building a supportive community and network for women.
"Professor Mizutani plays an essential role in supporting student research, teaching legal research in the Lawyering program, and assisting faculty with scholarly work. Beyond that, she leads the Prison Education Practicum, part of the Cornell Prison Education Program (CPEP), which connects students with opportunities to support higher education for incarcerated individuals in upstate New York." said Leila Gomez, Co-Diversity Chair of WLC.

Our first Admitted Student Day (ASD) of the semester was a resounding success! ASD, is an annual event here at Cornell Law School, which provides admitted students with a chance to learn more about our school and the classes we offer, meet the wonderful faculty and staff we have here, as well as tour the law school and participate in a mock class! Our second ASD this year, will take place on Friday, April 11th…we can’t wait to begin this journey with you to helping you become “lawyers in the best sense!”

On February 27, Cornell Law School (CLS) alumni, students, professors, and staff gathered in New York City to celebrate the 20th Annual Alumni Exemplary Public Service Awards.
Six alumni and nine students were recognized for their contributions to public interest law. The student awards and their winners, are below:
Rodrigo Tojo Garcia, Griffin Perrault and Allayne Thomas were named winners of the Freeman Award for Civil-Human Rights, which is awarded to the law student or students who have made the greatest contribution during their law school career to civil-human rights.
Angelo D’Ercole, Sarah Stevenson-Peck, and Oliver Wang were awarded the Stanley E. Gould Prize for Public Interest Law, which is a cash prize awarded each year to a third-year student or students who have shown outstanding dedication to serving public-interest law and public-interest groups.
Finally, Cormac Frank-Collins, Angela Pan, and Shay Storz were named winners of the Seymour Herzog Memorial Prize, which is cash prize awarded each year to a student or students who demonstrate excellence in the law and commitment to public-interest law, combined with a love of sports.
