Satisfies the Skills Requirement. The clinic will be taught by Visiting Clinical Professor Jonathan Feldman, a public interest lawyer with 25 years of relevant experience. Because of the instructor’s background in school law and disability rights cases, the clinic will focus on such cases, and will seek to represent low-income children and adults in special education, school discipline, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) discrimination cases. However, the clinic will also have a broader focus, and could potentially accept cases involving other civil rights issues or access to governmental benefits.
In all types of cases, students will gain valuable litigation skills, negotiation skills, and client representation skills, by advocating for clients in a variety of administrative hearings and court proceedings. Students will also learn how to do client intakes and will help to decide which cases to accept for representation. If you are interested in this clinic and have not yet applied, please contact Professor Feldman at firstname.lastname@example.org to express interest.
