Biography
Rossella Esther Cerchia is Full Professor of Comparative Private Law at the University of Milan and Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell Law School. Her research focuses on comparative private law, particularly comparative contract law and comparative tort law, with additional interests in legal innovation and the evolving challenges of private law. She is the author and editor of several books and has published extensively in peer-reviewed Italian and international journals.
She teaches Comparative Contract Law at Cornell Law School and Comparative Private Law at the University of Milan. Her international academic experience includes teaching and research appointments at the University of Oxford, the East China University of Political Science and Law, the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, UNIDROIT, and the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law. She regularly presents her research at national and international conferences.
Professor Cerchia serves as Principal Investigator of competitive research projects and coordinates postgraduate and continuing education programmes at the University of Milan. In addition to her academic career, she is an Italian attorney, Of Counsel and Country Head of Knowledge at DLA Piper Italy, and Independent Director and Chair of the ESG Committee of Prelios Credit Servicing S.p.A.
