Biography
Takayuki Kihira is a corporate M&A partner at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto (Mori Hamada) in Tokyo, where he practices in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate and securities laws, and international commercial transactions. After graduating from Cornell Law School in 2006, he practiced with Shearman & Sterling in New York City before returning to Mori Hamada.
In addition to his legal practice, Kihira has lectured for University of St. Gallen’s Executive M.B.L.-HSG program (2013, 2015-2018). His recent publications include Chambers Legal Practice Guides: Corporate M&A, Japan, 2026 (Chambers and Partners, 2026) and Corporations and Partnerships in Japan (Wolters Kluwer Law & Business, 2012), as well as web articles for the Practical Law Company.
Kihira has been selected by various media as a recommended lawyer in the corporate and M&A sector. Most recently, he is individually listed as a recommended lawyer in the 2026 Chambers Global, where it is noted "He is fluent in English, and his ability to provide solutions to complex situations is amazing.
