Professional BiographyLara Freed teaches first-year Lawyering and upper-level courses on litigation drafting and client counseling.
After graduating from Harvard Law School, she was a litigator at Bingham McCutchen in Boston, where she represented corporate clients on a variety of matters and handled pro bono cases in the areas of child welfare and prisoners' rights. She later taught legal writing and research courses as an Instructor of Law at Brooklyn Law School. Professor Freed joined the Cornell Law faculty in 2009.
Professor Freed is a member of the Massachusetts Bar, the Legal Writing Institute (LWI), and the Fingers Lakes Women’s Bar Association (a chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York). She has also served as a delegate for the Association of Legal-Writing Directors and is an Editor of the Monograph Series, an LWI publication.
