On August 7, Cornell Law School welcomed more than 100 accomplished students from 65 cities and 24 countries to Orientation for the LL.M. (Master of Laws) Class of 2026. This year’s Orientation, which concludes on August 22, includes introductory courses, seminars, tours of the Law School, resource fairs, and graduate and professional development networking events. Students will also have several opportunities to venture off campus and explore the natural beauty of Ithaca and the surrounding area.

The Orientation program began with a welcome address from Jens Ohlin, Allan R. Tessler Dean and Professor of Law, who shared his background in international law, noted the diverse global experiences of the incoming students, and highlighted what they can look forward to in the year ahead.

“We are thrilled to welcome over 100 talented General LL.M. students from across the world to Cornell Law. Their diverse backgrounds and prior legal experience will enrich our classrooms with a global perspective,” said Daniel Nemeth-Neumann, director of student services and advising. “Over the next two weeks, they will take part in an intensive orientation designed to prepare them for academic success and help them feel welcomed in Ithaca.”

The final day of Orientation will include an International Graduate & Professional Student Orientation and Networking Reception at the Alice Statler Auditorium in Statler Hall, which will provide students with an overview of a variety of services offered on campus.

The one-year Master of Laws (LL.M.) graduate program is designed for practicing attorneys and recent law school graduates who have already earned a first degree in law outside the United States. Through this program, students will increase their understanding of American legal principles and further develop their legal specialization.
