On March 23, members of the Women’s Law Coalition (WLC) and the Cornell Law community gathered in the student lounge to celebrate Kristen Stanley ’07, associate clinical professor of law (Lawyering), as this year’s recipient of the Anne Lukingbeal Award.
“I’m so honored to have received the Anne Lukingbeal award, particularly because it comes from our students,” said Stanley. “I’ve gotten where I am today because of the support of women who came before me. To hear that students recognize and appreciate that same quality in me is gratifying and meaningful.”
Established in 1999 by the WLC, the Anne Lukingbeal Award is presented annually to a faculty member who has made significant contributions to the positive experience of women at the Law School. The award is named for its inaugural recipient, Anne Lukingbeal, who served as a mentor and role model for women at the Law School and across campus for more than twenty years.
At the ceremony, students shared reflections on Stanley’s impact and why they selected her for the award. Stanley also spoke about the responsibility that comes with the recognition.
“To the extent that my experiences can help serve you, I want them to,” said Stanley. “I want to do what others did for me, which is to support you as you find your own path.”
