On May 15, members of the Cornell community and the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly (GPSA) gathered at Willard Straight Hall to honor recipients of GPSA's Faculty Teaching, Advising and Mentorship Award. Among this year’s honorees was Angela Cornell, Clinical Professor of Law, who was one of four faculty members selected out of ninety submissions from throughout the university.

The GSPA’s award recognizes outstanding faculty members who serve as inspiring role models, champions of graduate and professional student interests, and who go above and beyond in their commitment to furthering their students’ personal and professional success.

The GPSA brings together Cornell’s community of graduate and professional students to address non-academic issues of common concern. The GPSA is composed of delegates from each graduate field and the professional schools and nineteen voting members, elected from the larger body of field representatives.

“Professor Cornell has inspired me as a budding lawyer to think about how the law impacts people and can be used as a mechanism for social change,” wrote Michael Iadevaia ’19 in his nomination. “By asking us questions that challenged both our doubts and assumptions, she helped shape our thinking to create and defend strong arguments, have clarity in thought, and, perhaps most important, bring to life complex academic literature.”

“It has been such a privilege to work with Cornell students and a real honor to be selected for this award among so many excellent teachers,” said Cornell, “I am very grateful to my students and to Cornell Law School for having provided this amazing opportunity to focus on clinical education and experiential learning.”
