Cornell Law Application Volume Steady—Slightly Up
Ithaca, NEW YORK, June 7, 2013
Associate Dean Richard Geiger has reported that the Law School’s application volume for the 2012-13 application year rose from 4,048 to 4,091, countering the trend that has seen a double-digit decline in national law school application volume for the third straight year.
“I am happy to report that in contrast to the national picture, Cornell’s application volume has actually risen," said Geiger.
Four years ago, the law school’s application volume spiked 50 percent to an all-time high of 6,264 applicants, prompting a headline in the Wall Street Journal law blog stating: “The Dream of Every College Grad: To Go To Cornell Law.”
"Since 2010, the application volume at CLS has followed the general national trend downward, until this year, when once again Cornell seems to be trending upward," added Geiger. "We have returned to levels consistent with the average volume during the recent decade, and our applicant pool is strong and deep."
