Sydney, Australia

Cornell Law School may send up to two students to the University of Sydney Law School in the Spring or Fall.  However, the Spring semester is available only for 2Ls.

As Australia's first law school, Sydney Law School delivers one of the most distinguished Undergraduate Programs in the country and offers Australia's largest Postgraduate law program. Magnificently situated on one of the finest natural harburs in the world and bounded to the north and south by National parks and to the west by the beauty of the Blue Mountains, the City of Sydney offers a unique experience to the international student. At the heart of Australia's largest cosmopolitan city, students will experience Sydney's vibrant culture. The University of Sydney is well serviced by the public transport system and there is easy access to the spectacular harbur and beaches, beautiful botanical gardens and parks, museums, cinemas and theaters.

As a Southern Hemisphere school, Sydney’s academic calendar differs significantly from the one at Cornell.

Semester One: Mid-February to Late-June
Semester Two: Late-July to Late-November

The University and its law faculty have been willing to accommodate Cornell Law School students who were forced to arrive a few days late for Semester Two, due to summer clerking obligations. Generally speaking, no one should expect to arrive later than August 1 and everyone should exert the maximum effort to be in Sydney as close as possible to the beginning of the semester.
