Mary Newhart is an Adjunct Professor of Law and the Executive Director of CeRI (the Cornell eRulemaking Initiative). Her current research focuses on discovering how information and communication technologies can be used most effectively to engender broader, better participation in complex public policymaking. This research utilizes her conflict resolution background, through the application of traditional group facilitation techniques to the online environment and the use of technology to support asynchronous consensus building. Her scholarship has appeared in a number of journals, including the ILR Review, Michigan Journal of Environmental and Administrative Law, Pace Law Review, University of Miami Law Review, and the Wake Forest Law Review. She teaches in the e-Government Clinic and a course in collaborative decision-making and negotiations.
